Session 7: Developing a Sense of Touch, Monday Evenings
Skill Level: Intermediate and Beyond
Join us as we explore not only what kind of pots we want to make, but more importantly, how we want to make them. Every time we touch the clay we are creating, and everything from the clay we choose to work with, to our energy as we come to the studio, to the speed of the wheel itself will be part of the results.
Keeping this in mind, we will investigate our own processes and try get more familiar with our own personal sense of touch with the clay. We will speed up, slow way down, practice non judgement but also be willing to critique and recycle pots, practice knowing when to stop but also when to play. All the while we’ll take note of what is working so we can carry it in us to the next creative act.
This class is ideal for those comfortable with centering clay, pulling walls, and trimming pots, who are also willing to observe how others work, try new things, and hone their own creative process.
