Session 7: Surface Design with Illustrative Elements
Skill Level: Intermediate + Beyond
Do you want to level-up your pottery? This class will explore surface design through illustration and doodle-y decorations!
We will take a look at traditional techniques of adding illustrative elements like mishima and sgraffito, as well as some new ones like paper transfers and stencils. We recommend that everyone is comfortable throwing or handbuilding, as those skillsets will be the base for our surface designs. Get your sketchbook ready, and let’s get decorating!
Open to intermediate + beyond handbuilders or wheel-throwers. Students should bring throwing/handbuilding tools (including a needle tool), brushes, a sketchbook + drawing utensils, X-acto knife, and printer paper.
Tuesday Evenings, 6:30-9:30 pm
Class Dates: October 22, 29; November 5, 12, 19; December 3, 10 (No class November 26th)
Instructor: Bernadette Januska
Location: Wheel Studio 2
Skill Level: Intermediate + Beyond
